About Rich DeSalvo
Rich is the CEO and Founder of Richard DeSalvo Consulting, which provides strategic and tactical revenue enhancement solutions to financial services firms. Drawing from a 25 year career all in the financial services industry, Rich is able to provide experienced based value in numerous key areas including overall firm strategy; product development; distribution; and sales management, including talent assessment and development.
Prior to founding his firm in 2008, Rich enjoyed a successful 25 year financial services career, spending his final 12 years at Morgan Stanley. As a Managing Director, Rich had responsibility for a $30 billion segment of the firm’s business, including:
- Mutual funds
- Open-end funds
- Closed-end mutual funds (IPO)
- Unit Investment Trusts
- Offshore funds
- 529 Plans
As a result of the numerous and varied positions Rich has held in his career, he is able to deliver impactful experience based solutions. In his career, Rich held positions including wholesaling a bundled 401(k) plan program; director of business development for a benefit consulting/recordkeeping firm; division head and national sales manager in the institutional and retail retirement plan division; head of the proprietary separately managed account (SMA) division; and running national sales for all branch related product sales.
As a result of his leadership positions through his career, Rich has also developed particularly strong public speaking skills. During his tenure at Morgan Stanley, Rich was asked to take a formal leadership role in many of the firm’s conferences and public speaking events. As an accomplished motivational speaker, he is often asked to speak to groups of advisors/ wholesalers on a variety of value-add topics. In addition, he has established a presence as a regular contributor to numerous national media outlets including Fox News channel/CNN radio.
On a personal note, Rich’s current entrepreneurial career path began after a string of four spine operations over a three year period. Soon after the final surgery, he wrote the book The Power of Pain, a motivational memoir written especially for those in the financial services community. He then founded Rich DeSalvo Consulting and hasn’t looked back.
